X Factor USA Show Highlights & Videos from 12/5

Tonight on X Factor the Top 6 will sing two songs each. One song was chosen by America and the other is an unplugged number composed by the team. The songs were chosen by their respected mentors. But before that takes place, the contestants will perform the Pepsi Challenge songs that the fans picked for them.

CeCe Frey is up and she takes on Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga. CeCe is the only contestant left from the young adult’s category. Her vocals are okay; she does have some potential as a pop singer. She is entertaining though. LA says he is starting to come around to her fan base, Britney says she was just okay but nothing spectacular, Simon told CeCe that she isn’t worth a $5 million dollar contract and of course, Demi thought it was her best performance.

Emblem 3 is part of Simon’s groups and they sang Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars. Emblem 3 is nothing more than one of Simon’s little boy bands. But Simon is in for a surprise because his little boy band is not comfortable with this song at all. LA said is was pretty well done, Britney thought it was one of there better performances and Demi said they were good but sounded much like the Jonas Brothers 5 years ago. Well that was a stab at Simon who meanwhile is patting himself on the back.

Carly Rose Sonenclar sang Justin Bieber’s As Long As You Love Me. It is hard to keep remembering that she is only 13. She sings with such emotion and such passion that it seems like a young adult is singing up on stage instead of a girl who just entered her teens. She did amazing with this song and the judges absolutely agreed. Simon said she was a rising star, LA loved her, Demi thought she did a better job with this song that Justin did and Britney was proud of her.

Fifth Harmony took on Set Fire to the Rain by Adele. Ally was away because her grandfather passed away and she came back just before the group was set to hit the stage. But nevertheless, this song was definitely not for them. But it is not only the song, Fifth Harmony has had sloppy moments in their performances all along. There are two girls in the group that should have been solo performers because they outshine the others. LA didn’t hear any harmony, Britney said they are no different than any other girl band but since they are Simon’s protégé, he thinks they should be in the semi-finals next week.

Diamond White performs It’s a Man’s World. She actually did good this week compared to most of her other performances that are pitchy. She sang the song really well. But then again, she has sang this song before. LA said she brought attitude this week, Demi thought the song paid off for her, Simon thought she should have performed a song that was more suited for her and Britney thought she nailed it.

Tate Stevens is Living On A Prayer with Bon Jovi. Tate is an amazing singer and he totally nailed this song. He did an acoustic version of the song. But apparently the judges did not see it that way at all. Britney still sees him as a country singer, Demi was bored and Simon compared it to taking a goldfish for a walk.

CeCe Frey is up to start Round 2. She sings Part of Me by Katy Perry. She sings the whole song a bit under pitch and her outfit was atrocious. She silver short shorts and a sparkly bra top. I have a feeling that Ms. CeCe will not go on to the semi finals. LA didn’t like it, Britney and Demi loved her and Simon will miss her if she is sent home.

Emblem 3 are back with Forever Young by Bob Dylan. They did so much better this time around. This was the perfect song and the perfect arrangement for them. LA says they nailed it, Britney thought it was stellar, Demi thought it was better this time around and of course, Simon loved them.

Carly Rose Sonenclar sang If I Were a Boy by Beyonce. What an amazing performance. LA liked her, Demi thought it was phenomenal and Simon was clueless that it was Beyonce’s song. She could win this competition but she will most likely be up against Tate and he is pretty strong too.

Fifth Harmony sings Give Your Heart A Break by Demi Lovato. Simon’s group singing Demi’s song…interesting. Well they actually did an amazing job. They sounded well together. Britney loved them, Demi loved what they did with her song and LA and Simon loved them.

Diamond White sings Diamonds by Rihanna. She is doing really well this week with both her songs. She is not a real star by any means but then again she is just 13 years old. She is confident and is singing right on key. LA didn’t like her rendition of the song, the other three judges liked her and liked the song.

Tate Stevens took on Garth Brook’s If Tomorrow Never Comes. Anyone who can take the most boring song ever and run with it and do well, definitely deserves to be in this competition. The judges all like him and they expect to see him back next week.

And that’s a wrap!
